Easter Greetings from DHS
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)
These words from the Fourth Gospel ring true every Easter. The lumen Christi never fails to dispel Holy Saturday’s darkness. Perhaps this year there was more of that darkness for the light to dispel—the darkness of anxiety and isolation—but the light of truth and grace did not founder. It shone.
The priests and brothers of the House of Studies wish you all a very happy and holy Easter. In what remain unsettling times, may the light of Risen Christ dispel all doubt from your minds and all fear from your hearts. May the graces of the Easter Season confirm you in the mystery prophesied by Job many centuries ago: “I know that my Redeemer lives, and at last he will stand upon the earth; and after my skin has been thus destroyed, then from my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see on my side, and my eyes shall behold, and not another” (Job 19:25–27).
Surrexit Dominus vere, alleluia, alleluia! Et apparuit Simoni, alleluia, alleluia!
