Year of Saint Joseph

“We need only ask Saint Joseph for the grace of graces: our conversion.” –Pope Francis

In his recent apostolic letter Patris Corde, Pope Francis called the Church to observe a special year in honor of St. Joseph, whom the Holy Father recommends as a strong and solicitous patron for every Christian. “Each of us can discover in Joseph – the man who goes unnoticed, a daily, discreet and hidden presence – an intercessor, a support and a guide in times of trouble,” Pope Francis wrote.

Prompted by the Holy Father’s call to “go to Joseph,” the friars of the House of Studies are confiding their intentions to St. Joseph in a particular way. For the duration of this special year, a candle will burn perpetually in our St. Joseph Chapel (pictured above) as a continual prayer for St. Joseph’s care and protection. Next to this candle we shall place our particular intentions—for family, friends, benefactors, and other special needs—asking that St. Joseph might intercede for them with the full merits of his heavenly prayer.

To include your intentions with ours, and to have them placed in our St. Joseph Chapel, please send them to us through the form on this site’s “Contact Us” page. Once a month, a priest of the community will offer Mass in the St. Joseph Chapel for all of the collected intentions.

If you would like to send a donation along with your intention, you may do so through this site’s “Donate” page.

Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer,
Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
To you God entrusted his only Son;
in you Mary placed her trust;
with you Christ became man.

Blessed Joseph, to us too,
show yourself a father
and guide us in the path of life.
Obtain for us grace, mercy and courage,
and defend us from every evil. Amen.
