Novena to the Holy Spirit, May 22-30

Join the friars of the House of Studies in praying a novena to the Holy Spirit. Together, let us prepare for Pentecost by imploring the Holy Spirit to renew his sevenfold gift within us, that we might grow perfect in the practice of faith, hope, and charity.

Each day of the novena, the friars will follow the simple formula below.

Chant the Veni Creator Spiritus. (text/melody)

V. A pure heart create for me, O God.  R. And put a steadfast spirit within me.
V. Do not cast me away from your presence.  R. Nor deprive me of your Holy Spirit.
V. Give me again the joy of your help.  R. And with a spirit of fervor sustain me.

Let us pray.

O God, who sanctify your universal Church in every people and nation, pour out, we pray, the gifts of your Spirit across the face of the earth, so that your divine grace, which was at work when the Gospel was first proclaimed, may now spread through the hearts of those who believe in you. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
